Quebedeaux Park is a small civic plaza in downtown Houston at 1115 Congress St, named in honor of Dr. Walter A. Quebedeaux (1915–1976), a pioneer in environmental protection who spent 22 years as Harris County's Director of Air and Water Pollution Control. The park is currently being transformed into Remembrance Park — a solemn memorial designed to honor those who fought for social justice and human rights, including markers recognizing four individuals lynched in Harris County between 1890 and 1928. The redesigned space will feature art installations, water features, and public education areas that contextualize local racial and social inequality history, making it a contemplative and historically significant public gathering place.
