We started HTXapt.com in 2018 after watching too many friends sign leases on apartments they'd never seen, in neighborhoods they'd misjudged, at rents that didn't actually exist. Houston is a city of thirty-thousand rental units across 88 neighborhoods. Nobody should have to find theirs alone.

In 2024 we shipped A.L.I., the first chat assistant trained specifically on Houston's rental market — its pricing patterns, its lease quirks, its flood maps, its commute math. She does in 90 seconds what a junior locator does in 90 minutes.

We're still a small team of licensed locators. A.L.I. handles the search; we handle the human bits — the negotiation, the lease read-through, the "is this neighborhood actually safe for me" conversation.

Is the service really 100% free?

Yes — completely. Apartment communities pay us a referral fee when you sign a lease. That's it. You never pay a dollar at any step.

What if A.L.I. doesn't have the building I want?

Just ask her by name. If it's a legit Houston rental community we can almost always pull it in within a day. If we can't, we'll tell you straight up.

Can I just talk to a human?

Anytime. Type 'human' to A.L.I. and you'll be on with a licensed locator within an hour during business hours. We're not trying to hide behind the bot.

Do you only cover Houston?

Houston metro. Inside the loop, energy corridor, Sugar Land, the Heights, Pearland, Katy, The Woodlands — anywhere you'd reasonably call 'Houston-ish.'

How current is the pricing?

A.L.I.'s pricing refreshes every 4 hours from each community's leasing portal. If you see a number, it's the one a leasing agent would quote you today.

What's the catch?
