Etro Nightclub was an underground retro dance club at 114 S Main St in downtown Houston, beloved for spinning 1980s, New Wave, Goth, and Industrial music across a compact dance floor and two bars. Owner Antonio Villalobos shaped it into a rare Houston niche — 'a little more underground than the 80s night at nearby Numbers and a little divier than Anvil' — drawing a warm, inclusive alternative crowd who packed the patio on weekend nights. The multi-level space featured a downstairs bar, an upstairs lounge open on weekends, a video arcade, and a no-pretense door policy. After 17 years (first in Montrose, then downtown from 2018), the club permanently closed July 13, 2024.
