The expansive dining room offered breathtaking panoramic views of the downtown Houston skyline and drew pre-theater crowds seeking refined Latin-inflected cuisine before performances. Celebrated as Texas Monthly's "Best New Restaurant" of 2004, Artista was known for inventive signatures like caviar Twinkies, soft shell crawfish taquitos, and classic churrasco with chimichurri — pairing theatrical atmosphere with sophisticated, approachable elegance that suited performing arts devotees, special-occasion diners, and Houston's downtown business crowd.
