The Brewery Tap was a beloved British-style neighborhood pub housed in the historic Magnolia Building at 717 Franklin St. in downtown Houston — open from 1987 until its permanent closure when the building was sold. It served 20-ounce imperial pints from 30+ rotating taps, giving patrons 25–40% more beer per pour than a typical American bar, with prices from $2.75 for domestics to $6+ for premium imports. Heavy wooden tables salvaged from an 1905 warehouse created a warm, convivial atmosphere ideal for darts, conversation, and watching soccer, rugby, and cricket. A true downtown institution — named Houston Press 'Best Downtown Bar' — it proudly poured St. Arnold's beer since August 1994.
